A split night is when your baby decides to wake up overnight for a prolonged period ready to party. They are generally full of energy and seem ready to start the day. There are five main causes for split nights that we can work on together to fix:
✨ Too much day sleep
✨ Bedtime is too early
✨ A developmental leap or growth spurt
✨ The awake time between that last nap and before bed is not long enough meaning there is not enough sleep pressure
✨ The general daytime and nap routine is unbalanced and causing upset to the circadian rhythm
To fix split nights, we would need to work through the above scenarios to find the root cause and rebalance the circadian rhythm. This will allow us to support consolidated sleep cycles overnight.
Take note that a split night is different to a false start which occurs around 45 minutes after bedtime.
